NO THANKS-GIVING
A menu inspired by everything we love to hate.
Wednesday, OCTOBER 21 – Saturday, NOVEMBER 28
After taking a couple of years off, we thought it was time to resurrect one of our favorite menu themes centered around a completely made-up holiday tradition of our own.
Welcome to No Thanks-Giving—formerly known, perhaps a little less diplomatically, as Hatesgiving.
To build this menu, we rounded up the staff and asked everyone to tell us what they dislike, despise, detest, or would simply prefer to never encounter again. Foods, flavors, trends, everyday annoyances, irrational grievances. Nothing was off limits. Turns out, we're a fairly judgmental group, so we had plenty to work with.
But the point isn't simply to take a collection of things we hate and turn them into dinner.
The idea behind No Thanks-Giving is that the very thing one person can't stand might be the exact thing someone else loves. We all have opinions, preferences, and things we've written off entirely, sometimes without giving much thought to why.
So we took those dislikes and challenged ourselves to approach them from a different perspective. Through a little creativity, curiosity, and probably a fair amount of stubbornness, we've turned our collective grievances into a menu that asks us to reconsider some of those firmly held opinions.
Maybe we'll discover something we didn't expect. Maybe we'll gain a little appreciation for something we previously couldn't stand. Or maybe we'll walk away feeling exactly the same.
But in a world that can feel increasingly opinionated and polarized, there's something worthwhile about being willing to look at the things we dislike through a different lens.
