Our Artist Dinner series brings our featured artist into the KIN Tasting Room in a fully immersive way. Dine surrounded by her work while enjoying a menu inspired by her art, perspective, and creative process, each course designed as its own interpretation of the work on the walls. Our Artist Menu will conclude on October 17th, 2026.
ARTIST STATMENT:
We hope you’ll join us for this special menu and experience the exhibition through both art and food. Lorelle Rau is a mixed media, collage artist, who uses cut paper and appropriated imagery to investigate concepts of nature, place, and the environment. This series explores the colors, layers, and textures of the Grand Canyon and how years of drought, climate change, and increased water use have exhausted this natural resource. These works are a layering of ink jet photographs, latex painted Bristol paper, the map we used daily to navigate our 2022 rafting journey down the river, handmade Tamarisk paper with fibers I foraged from the southwest, and cotton thread— several of these paper constructions are hand-stitched to symbolize unity, repair, restoration, and reconnection.
BIOGRAPHY
Lorelle Rau comes from a family of entrepreneurs and independent thinkers, with a history of hands-on creativity and exploration. Her father ran a successful crab fishing business in South Florida, while her mother, an artist, created large, abstract sculptures using traditional pit-firing techniques. Lorelle earned an MA in Arts Administration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015 and received a BS in Art Management and BA in Studio Art from Appalachian State University. She was the recipient of the Alexa Rose Foundation Grant in 2019 and has work in several private and public collections throughout the United States. She is currently the Assistant Director of Capitol Contemporary Gallery and works independently as an art consultant where she helps individuals and businesses procure artwork.
When Lorelle is not fully immersed in the visual arts, she enjoys hiking in the Boise Foothills and Idaho backcountry with her husband and dogs, Tanner and Sam.
